MAIN STREET BOUNCEBACK GRANT PROGRAM

Application submission deadline is December 31, 2022

The Wisconsin Tomorrow Main Street Bounceback Grant Program works to provide one-time assistance to new and existing businesses opening a new location or expanding operations in a vacant commercial space.

Program Description:

The Main Street Bounceback Grants program provides $10,000 to new or existing businesses and non-profit organizations moving into vacant commercial properties in Wisconsin. Funds can be used to pay leases or mortgages, operational expenses and other business costs related to the newly opened location as of January 1, 2021. West Central Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission (WCWRPC) has entered into an agreement with the WEDC to deploy the grants in West Central Wisconsin defined as the counties of Barron, Chippewa, Clark, Dunn, Eau Claire, Polk, and St. Croix.

Program Eligibility:

Main Street Bounceback Grants are available to for-profit businesses and non-profit organizations meeting the following criteria:

  • The business is located within West Central Wisconsin

  • The business either is moving into a vacant commercial space or has moved into a vacant commercial space as of January 1, 2021

  • To be eligible, the vacant commercial space needs to be over 400 square feet

  • The business can certify that is has not or will not vacate a commercial space in Wisconsin to become eligible to claim this grant

Businesses are ineligible to apply for the grants if they are:

  • Part of a national or regional chain, unless the business is an independently owned and operated franchise

  • A home-based business or property landlord, unless they are moving their business functions into the vacant commercial space

  • Real estate investment firms that intend to hold the property for investment purposes only

  • Engaged in any illegal activity under federal, state or local law

Or if they intend to use the space for:

  • Storage only

  • Residential purposes

Please note:

  • Sublease business arrangements are not eligible.

  • To be eligible for an award, the business must be occupying and operating the business out of the leased or purchased space.

  • Given the high demand for the program in West Central Wisconsin, grant awards are limited to new or expanding businesses with owner(s) other than those who have previously received an award. This way, we can assist as many businesses and business owners as possible.
